OPENING

Hi Everyone!!! I hope that this email finds you, your families and loved ones all healthy and safe!

After much thought and debate, we have decided to continue with the start of the Men's Club golf season as originally planned.  The Men's Club season will start this weekend with a Best 9 event commencing Friday, April 3, 2020.

Our Opening Event will be postponed due to social gathering restrictions and we will only be proceeding with weekend events at this time.  Any Major Event that requires postponement will be rescheduled at a later date.

Please note the following information is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT:

  • Signups for weekend events will take place in the SCOREBOARD AREA BY THE 10TH TEE.

  • Please have one person in your foursome sign the board for all players in the foursome and please maintain social distancing

  • Please have one person in your foursome fill in the scores for the entire foursome (or those that took part in the event that day) and, again, maintain social distancing.

  • We will be playing Winter Rules until further notice.  You may lift clean and place your ball in your OWN FAIRWAY within one club length of its original spot.  Everywhere else on the course you will play the ball as it lies with the exception of the bunkers.

  • Since there are no rakes in the bunkers, you may lift, clean and place the ball in the bunker until further notice.

  • DO NOT REMOVE THE FLAG STICK!!  The flag sticks are to remain in place at all times.  A piece of PVC pipe has been place inside each hole in order to allow for easy removal of the ball with minimal to no contact with the flag stick.

  • In order to be activated as a Men's Club Member, please sign up on line or in the pro shop by this Thursday, April 2, 2020 by 5:00 pm   Failure to do so will inactivate your handicap and you will not be permitted to take part in this weekend's event.

  • You do not need to write in your local number when signing up for weekend events any longer.

  • The handicap that you will use for each weekend event will be posted in the scoreboard area on the Thursday before the weekend.  Please review your handicap prior to signing the board.  (PLEASE NOTE, THIS PROVISION IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.  WITH THE NEW HANDICAP SYSTEM, HANDICAPS CHANGE AFTER EVERY ROUND.  THE HANDICAP YOU WILL USE FOR WEEKEND EVENTS WILL REMAIN FIXED, BASED ON YOUR HANDICAP AS POSTED THE THURSDAY BEFORE THE EVENT STARTED REGARDLESS OF ANY CHANGES DURING THE WEEKEND)

  • It is also very important for you to post every score on the day that you played.  Failure to do so will result in your disqualification from the weekend event.  This requirement is equivalent to a competitor signing their scorecard after a round.  Please do not get disqualified for failing to post a score.  If can be done very simply on your mobile phone through the MGA APP

Lastly, I apologize for the amount of information thrust upon you in this email but it is extremely important for you to have all of the information available.  The fact that we are going through a crisis that very few or any of have ever lived through coupled with a new handicap system going into place on Wednesday makes the start of our season a bit more complicated than I would have wished.

Be that as it may, we are forging ahead with our season as it is likely the one thing that we can all look forward to in the coming weeks.

PLEASE MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING RULES!!!  Our sport and activity has been in the cross hairs of some of the public and they are going out of their way to try to close the golf course down.  If simply maintaining a 6 foot distance between people is all it will take to keep the course open and allow us all to have some weekend enjoyment, please oblige.

You will shortly receive an email from Rob Tyska, our Handicap Commissioner, with further information regarding the updated handicap system.

Thank you all for your time and attention and I look forward to seeing you all this weekend.  Any questions or concerns may be directed to me atmensclub@hubbardheights.com

Thank you,

Bob Judge
